Yes, we know we may be in the third week of January already and 2018 has well and truly begun!
Last week we launched 2018 for Behind the Brands with our new Mixer event. These Mixer events will be happening bi-monthly and are designed to bring WA women together to form a sense of community. They are free events, where guests just purchase their own drinks. Why free you ask? (Are you really asking?😊) Well let us explain.
Behind the Brands mission since we started last year has always been to create a community for female entrepreneurs in WA. There are plenty of amazing networking groups out there and whilst networking is a by-product of BTB this is not what we aim to be. We know especially for those start ups out there money is tight, so anyway we can facilitate connection between women we will. Plus we love meeting new people!
Whilst I didn’t get to chat to everyone at our 2018 launch (we wish we could of!) I wanted to highlight a few of those that I did.
Nicci Ashby – High Profit Media
Did you know that Nicci created an uber successful business – FIFO Families – whilst she was raising 3 young children, with a FIFO husband and no family support network here in WA! I just love her story and if Nicci can do it with 3 kids, then I certainly can try with just one. 😊
Nicci now runs High Profit Media, a company that teaches other businesses how to leverage media.
Jennifer Le – Riverside Ensembles
I have never met a Violinist before! Jennifer blew me away with her story, how she created her business at 19. It’s a true testament that you can become an entrepreneur at any age, and this should never be a factor in whether a business will be successful or not.
Her passion for what she does really stood out.
Erica Urquiaga – Baked by Erica
She had me at cookies! She had the best marketing tactic, always carrying around cookies in her bag to give to people as samples. Except at our event…hmmmm Just joking. I’ve always said that if you have a physical product, the best way to market it is to show people and in this case let people taste them!
As you can see there was such a diverse group of women who attended. I get so excited hearing about everyone’s businesses and their stories. We are always looking for contributors, if you have a story to share or advice like you to impart then email firstname.lastname@example.org
And save the date for our next Mixer, Thursday 15th March at Public House.
