After spending time being a student to fashion in Paris, Kaila Methven built her own empire, Madame Methven. Trained in the art of design from the historic fashion institute Esmod, with a Masters from the International Fashion Academy Paris and extended training from Polymodo in Florence. The success of Madame Methven has given Kaila a strong name and secured a place within high fashion. Having been on the covers of Elements Magazine, Maxim South Africa, LA Fashion Magazine and features in Marie Claire, Business Insider, LA Travel and Luxury Lifestyle Magazine, her raw talent, passion and business tact crafted an empire fit for the humble, yet hardworking Kaila Methven.

Madame Methven is the epitome of a luxurious lingerie line with the intention to strengthen the already powerful woman. Pushing the limits of lingerie, Kaila uses her teaching, creativity and passion to help promote women’s confidence, proving every woman’s “sexy” is beautiful and natural.

Entrepreneur Kaila Methven might be a KFC heiress; (Methven’s family owned Rainbow Chicken Unlimited, a South African Company that at one time supplied 90% of KFC’s chicken), but she is a success in her own right. She now runs two high-end lingerie brands: Madame Methven and Lactrodectus (LDKM).

Inspired by Rachel Zoe, Donatella Versace, and Karl Lagerfeld – They are extravagant in life and inspire art and creativity through the world around them in their designs, art and passion.

What is your favourite thing to do in your downtime?

Go to new restaurants and support local businesses. Shopping at family owned and small “Mum and Dad” locations is what helps people grow and keep the community thriving.

 

What motivates you?

I promised my mother I would never give up and do everything for her memory. I know she is looking down at me proud of who I am and wants me to continue challenging myself to be even greater and do right by as many people I can.

The Methven brand has woven themes of childlike innocence, erotic playfulness, and female power into the most elegant lace and textiles from Paris, along with brocade corsets, jackets, and top hats. Kaila continues to stay inspired and take necessary risks.
